This article talks about Mesothelioma cancer (which comes from Asbestos)and how to diagnose it. Many times, it is very difficult to diagonose this form of cancer. Diagnosis of Mesothelioma in Michigan and in all parts of the world begin with an assessment of the patients medical file, a CT scan, a CAT scan, an MRI, and a biopsy. Mesothelioma is a malignant cancer disease that is very rare.  There are actually only about 4,000 new cases in the world per year.  It is a unique cancer being that it is only caused by asbestos and asbestos particles that are inhaled.

There are three types of Mesothelioma in Michigan and all over the world.

1. Pleural
2. Pericardial
3. Peritoneal

These are all basically the same type of disease, but the difference is where the cancer is located in your body.

• Pleural is when you have Mesothelioma that surrounds the lungs.
• Pericardial is when you have Mesothelioma that surrounds the heart.
• Peritoneal is when you have Mesothelioma that surrounds the abdomen.
